Wisdom begins with the fear of the Lord, but fools despise wisdom and instruction. – Proverbs 1:7 CEB
Nearly every morning I wake up around 5:00am and stumble out of bed into the kitchen. I make some coffee, grab my Bible and my journal, and begin my day in the word and meditation. I enjoy one or two cups of coffee. I like to think it’s just for the flavor and the warmth, but I’m sure the caffeine has something to do with it as well. Once my one or two cups are done that’s it – no more coffee. Coffee is a sequential thing: coffee then the rest of my day.
The fear of the Lord is not a cup of coffee. Since wisdom is a journey, a matter of living life, attaining it can never be a sequential thing. It is a constant thing. At any point I pursue wisdom, or life, without the fear of the Lord I have become double minded and am certain to find something other than what I am after.
